Magnesium citrate and potassium citrate are mineral forms associated with citrate ions, which act as natural buffers against tissue acidity. These forms are particularly well absorbed by the body and contribute to the regulation of the acid-base balance. Please note not to confuse tissue acidity with gastric acidity: these are two different phenomena, as gastric acidity corresponds to the stomach acid involved in digestion, whereas tissue acidity refers to the body's acid-base balance. The Citrates Equilibre complex does not act on stomach acidity and is therefore not intended to reduce gastric acidity.

Chronic acid-base imbalance indeed forces the body to draw on its mineral reserves (bones, muscles) to neutralise excess tissue acidity, which can lead to chronic fatigue, muscle cramps, bone (and dental) demineralisation, and low-grade inflammation. Alkaline citrates (magnesium, potassium) help compensate for this acid load by providing buffer minerals that are directly usable by the body, thus relieving regulatory systems (kidneys, bones) and restoring baseline balance.

Magnesium plays a key role in over 300 enzymatic reactions in the body. It also contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system, normal muscle function, and the reduction of fatigue.

Potassium is an essential electrolyte involved in the regulation of blood pressure, nerve and muscle function, as well as fluid and acid-base balance. A potassium deficiency can lead to fatigue, muscle cramps, and heart rhythm disorders.

Supplementation with magnesium and potassium citrates is particularly recommended for people suffering from latent metabolic acidosis, chronic fatigue, digestive disorders, or following a diet too rich in animal protein and/or very low in vegetables.
